A Little Princess at Country Oven
I recently happened to go to Country Oven after a hard day at office. I was feeling very hungry and decided to eat a hot dog with Thumbs Up (no, I am not promoting it!). I took a coupon and ordered my evening snacks. Holding the tray in my hand, I looked for a place to sit. Just when I thought that I found the perfect seat to relish the hot dog and satisfy my hunger pangs, a little girl started shouting and waving at me as if to stop me from sitting there. I thought it was reserved by her mom and her. Her mom was at the counter deciding on a pastry for her little princess.
Scared by my little protestor, I decided to sit on an adjacent seat. But again she protested. I didn’t understand. Then she pointed her finger to my tray. I thought she wanted a sip of the Thumbs Up. Before I could decide what I had to do, the little girl popped out the cherry from my hot dog and put it inside her mouth. Now she was relieved! She then rushed to her mother at the counter to get hold of her next delicacy. She again started shouting at the counter, this time louder than before. I didn’t understand. When I turned back I saw her pointing towards the hot dogs with the cherries in the display! The shouts had to be louder as there were so many cherries!! It was sooooooo sweeet.
Hyderabad woes
Why do we face so many problems in Hyderabad? When it is summer, there is no water, and when it is rainy season there is excess water which renders many homeless. Why can’t the government take some measure to stop all this agony caused to the people? As if traffic woes were not enough.
As children we are taught about water harvesting to increase ground water levels. I think we can do a similar thing even now by having cement rings (not sure if this is what they are called) placed on open grounds (water harvesting). There must be so many measures that can be taken. Only action needs to be taken. Otherwise we will suffer year after year like this.
Regarding the drainage system, less said the better. Why can’t we take some suggestions from other states like Shillong where it rains all through the year? I stayed there for 4 years, but never faced such problems as here. A brainstorming session is all that it takes to get brilliant ideas for a better Andhra Pradesh.
Now let me come to the biggest problem of all – the traffic. I am a regular public transport commuter who is regularly late to office. Thanks to the increased number of cars on the road which have mostly a single person sitting inside (the driver). Why can’t we have some regulations on that? Lesser the number of cars, the faster we reach office and thus more productivity. This eventually improves the economy of our state and the country as a whole.
What I wrote here are simple suggestions which were probably not thought about seriously till now. I request our CM to kindly do the needful as soon as possible before I am completely exhausted by all these problems just like the others (I am sure).
